Unfortunately the problem didn't go away. To my suprise the big Windows 10 November Update (21H2) wasn't installed (I was still on 21H1), so I installed it. I read through the page and checked my windows version the way recommended (type winver in windows taskbar searchbox) and compared it to the newest. I was confused because everytime I checked, my windows told me that there aren't any new updates. I reached out to oculus support and send them my logfiles.įirst they told me that my windows version wasn't up to date and send me a link to the Windows 10 Update Assistent page. Your gaming laptop is not exactly a powerhouse for many modern PCVR apps but you should expect decent results imho. Remember to apply these to save them.įor SteamVR set all your visuals manually to 100% and disable advanced super sample filtering. Go to the Physx tab and select your 1070.

Set nvidia control panel 3d settings to all defaults except top item prefer to use the high powered nvidia gpu, power set to prefer max performance, and change the default Quality to High Performance. Also go to win10 game settings and turn off Game Mode.įor nvidia use the 511.79 driver (avoid installing geoforce experience) and use DDU to properly uninstall previous drivers beforehand (google how to do this). Go to win10 graphics settings and turn off hardware acceleration graphics. You need to restart oculus runtime services to have these changes take.įor Win 10 (latest versions and updates) check all your device manager usb ports and disable any power savings. Open ODT and set everything to default/zeros/auto except distortion Low, bitrate 200mbps, and link sharpening Enabled. I think you should be fine with 72Hz and the recommended res slider position. You don't say what Link cable you are using and also what was the Oculus desktop app device graphics USB speed test? I guess you could contact Oculus support and they may be able to look at your logfiles and identify your problem(s). Still suttering Pretty hard to say for sure. I tryed to force it to just use my dedicated graphics card through Nvidia and the Win 10 graphics settings and I even disabled the integrated one in the device manager but it didn't help. (In Nvidia Control Panel the automatic choice for oculus programs is my integrated graphics card. I hoped it would work with the v42 update I recieved today but the stutter is still there + now I get many weird notifications that "user." joined their home. My games are unplayable for me at the moment :(. Tried disabling home just in case it was an exclusive problem, but the same is happening in other programs too (Steam VR, VR Chat, Superhot VR.) and using Air Link instead of the wired connection didn't change anything as well.

The console gets flooded with messages likeĬode: -6100 - ovrError_XRStreamingGeneralIssueĭescription: Frame 47622 dropped due to encoder backup The performance headroom spikes up and down very fast and after a few seconds it turns even negative % (dips below 0). I activated the performance HUD in the debug tool and the console to see what is going on.

I lowered the recommended resolution (3616 x 1840 75 Hz) but even on the lowest setting (2432 x 1216 75 Hz) it still happens. I searched on the Internet for a solution and tried every "fix" I could find, but nothing helped. A few seconds after oculus home loaded in, everything began to stutter. I connected the Quest 2 with my msi gaming laptop and started Link. After playing some demos on the headset itself, I was looking forward to play the VR games I purchased on Steam. To the Oculus developer team can you please look at these videos so you can replicate the problem and find a solution for the stuttering once and for all when using Air Link with Quest 2.I got my Quest 2 last week. Anyone encountered these problem and know a solution? There is something that changed in the latest firmware or software that made Airlink start to stutter. I also tested downgrade to Windows 10 and the stuttering is still happening so it isn´t a Windows 11 related problem anymore. There was also a solution that you could change audio from Oculus Headset to another Audio source that worked before but doesn´t work anymore either.Īnother video where you could change audio to fix stuttering problem: The solution to open Oculus debug tool and click "Toogle console window visibility" doesn´t work anymore. The problem is now I think Facebook have updated the Oculus app or firmware because the solution doesn´t work anymore and the stuttering is back. I did what was shown in the video and the problem was fixed and my experience was smooth again with no stuttering when playing Steam VR games. Then the solution was to open Oculus debug tool and click "Toogle console window visibility" as is explained in this video: Before I had a problem when updating to Windows 11 that games played with Air link and Steam VR was stuttering.
